Volunteer Help
Below is a list of the volunteer positions for the Dachshund Club and Rescue.
President - (1 position, 1
year)
Oversees the overall operations of LVHDDCR to succeed at being a club and
rescue. Runs the monthly board meetings and is informed by directors on
organization business. Verifies monthly bank reconciliations.
Secretary - (1 position, 1 year)
Takes minutes at board meetings. Updates forms when necessary
Treasurer - (1 position, 1 year)
Tracks funds and manages bank books. Prepares annual budget & financial reports.
Rescue Director - (1 position, 1 year)
Oversees the running of the rescue. Coordinates surrenders, foster homes,
possible adoptive parents. Maintains rescue book. Coordinates rescue events and
if dogs are in rescue that they are at events.
Directors - (1 position, 1 year)
Arranges speakers for play days, volunteer appreciation day, Hallo-Wiener
volunteer meeting.
Photographer - (many positions, any time)
Take pictures at our play days and events and send them to be uploaded to the
website.
Rescue helper - (many positions, any time)
Help the rescue coordinator. Look for dachshunds that need help, send
information to the coordinator, home inspections, pickup/drop off dogs at vets,
transport dogs, etc.
Volunteer pool - (Lots of positions, any time)
If you are interested in volunteering your name will be put on our volunteer
list. You will be contacted to help as needed and are welcome to help any time.
Such help includes bringing refreshments to play days, water for dogs, hand out
info at our booth at events, etc. (just about anything).
Membership coordinator - (1 position, 4
months)
Keeps member database updates, creates badges and sends out membership packets.
Answers inquiries about being a LVHDDCR member and any general questions.
Play Day Coordinator - (1 position, 4 months)
Schedules play day time, date and location gives the information to the website
designer for the calendar and newsletter. Coordinates any member volunteers
needed for the play days and events. Will be the main contact for East/West side
member hosted play days and sends out the info to the people on the lists.
Supplies - (1 position, 4 months)
Keeps track of inventoried items ranging from flyers to bulk items for events.
Coordinates pick up and return of items for play days and events. Maintains
inventory of all Logo items and provides them for sale to members.
Newsletter - (1 position, 4 months)
Makes and sends the newsletter: Formats and edits articles, sponsor advertising,
play day information, surveys, ETC... Emails newsletter to members and sends a PDF
version of the newsletter to the Mailings Volunteer for it to be printed and
mailed to members without email.
Newsletter support - (1 position, 4 months)
If you don’t know how to make a newsletter you can still help by looking for
relevant information for the monthly newsletter, writes articles, assists with
the content, etc.
Graphic Designer - (1 position, 4 months)
Designs logos, makes flyers and brochures ETC...
Mailings - (1 position, 4 months)
Makes copies of monthly newsletters and mails it to members.
Public Relations - (1 position, 4 months)
Helps spread the word about LVHDDCR to the public. Distributes flyers/cards out
to places such as vet offices, newspapers, etc. once a month.
Webmaster (1 position, 4 months)
Maintains the website and updates it on a regular bases to keep it user
friendly and adds events to online calendar. Ensures that the website is reachable to the public on search engines,
etc. Creates monthly poll for hot dog of the month contest.
Hot Dog of the Month (1 position, 6 months)
Manages the contest and receives pictures for calendar contest.
Volunteer Coordinator - (1 position, 6 months)
Coordinates members interested in volunteering and helping them find a position
suited for their interests. Organizes volunteer meetings for events and works
with other organizers to find help.
Craft/Scrapbook - (1 position, 6 months)
Coordinates with the supply person for all the craft needed items. Makes
scrapbooks about events/play days and organizes anything craft related for play
days/events, etc. Gives our events the “cute touch”.
Events - (2 positions, 1 year)
Coordinates, oversees and delegates the larger events of the group such as
Hallo-Wiener, Spring Fling, Santa Paws, Biggest Weenie Loser and Weiner
Wonderland. Recruits help from volunteer pool.
Mini Events - (2 positions, 1 year)
Co-ordinates the smaller events such as the parades and walks.
Advertising/Sponsors - (1 position, 1 year)
Contacts sponsors for monthly ads/coupons for newsletter and for sponsorship for
large events. Sends LVHDDCR info/ads to sponsors for advertisement.
Fundraising - (1 position, 1 year)
Coordinates fundraising activities for LVHDDCR and for other selected
charities/groups.

Didn’t see something listed above? With many members there are always new ideas
that can improve LVHDDCR. We encourage ALL to share their ideas in improving our
club & rescue and website. As you can see we are a volunteer based organization
and we need help. We also want to improve what we have to offer to our members
and want you to utilize your personal talents. If you do something you enjoy and
you think we can benefit, let us know!
Ready to volunteer?
LVHDDCR is run totally on a volunteer basis. We have operated as LVHDDCR and as
our previous meetup group all by volunteers for the past 6 years. We can
not survive and maintain what we do for our members, the community and the
dachshunds without volunteers. No volunteer position is unnecessary and is
ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated, no matter how small. If you are interested
